For guidelines regarding data protection, consult the website of the Data Protection Authority in your country (e.g. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/).
For guidelines regarding Intellectual Property, WIPO's website is a good starting point (https://www.wipo.int/edocs/pubdocs/en/copyright/897/wipo_pub_897.pdf). You can also consult the website of the Intellectual Property Office in your country.
